User is Unable to Hear Anyone in the Deposition

Problem

You cannot hear anyone in the deposition room.

Quick Take: Check your device settings to ensure that your speakers are working and accessible to the virtual deposition platform.


Solution

  1. Make sure that your speakers are not on mute

  2. If you are using a desktop, ensure that speakers are turned on and the volume is turned up

  3. Test that the speakers are working by playing a YouTube.com video with the sound turned on

  4. Check the “Output Device” in the Windows and Mac Settings by following the steps listed below

  5. Make sure to check if the user is in phone only mode, steps on how to switch audio is provided below


  1. For Mac users, navigate to the ‘System Preferences’ application located within your dock

2. Select the ‘Sound’ tab and this will allow you to access all sound settings including speaker output

3. Select the ‘Output’ tab and locate the “Output volume” bar towards the bottom. This allows you to adjust your speakers

 


  1. For Windows users, right-click on the speaker icon located in the lower right corner of your computer

     

  2. Select “Open Sound Settings” and refer to the “Choose your output device” drop-down menu. Ensure the correct device is selected, so that your speakers can function properly

     

  3. After making any adjustments to your sound settings, then refresh your browser using the circular arrow button located to the immediate left of the address bar

  4. Confirm that you are using Supported Browsers & Devices




Phone Only Mode

When dialing into a proceeding your systems audio will be disabled. Follow the steps below to enable system audio.

1. Click on the blue three dot button to access the context menu

2. Select “Enable System Audio” which is the third option within the context menu

3. The user's microphone will still be muted, select the red microphone button on the left to allow others to hear you in the room.
