How-to Upgrade Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

In this article, we will explain how to upgrade the Microsoft Edge browser on a Windows 10 PC.

You must have admin rights to your PC. If you do not have admin rights to your PC, you will need to contact your company’s I.T. Department to get Edge upgraded.


Instructions for Upgrade on Windows 10

  1. Open your default browser, which may be an older version of Firefox or Opera

     

  2. Copy and paste the link below into your browser’s address bar and press enter to navigate to the Microsoft Edge download page

    1. Microsoft Edge is available for download at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge



  3. Click the ”Download for Windows 10” button on the web page to initiate the download

     

  4. Proceed by clicking “Accept and Download” to approve the download of Microsoft Edge

     

    1. This will open a dialog box with the option to either “Run”, “Save”, or “Cancel” download

      1. Select “Run”

         

  5. If Windows 10 has User Account Control turned on (it’s turned on by default) you will have to:

    1. Accept the install

    2. Locate a blinking “Shield” icon at the bottom of the page

    3. Click blinking “Shield” icon and the User Account Control dialog box will appear

    4. Click “Yes” to begin the installation



  6. Edge will install automatically

    1. Once completed, the system will launch the updated Microsoft Edge web browser

 

Microsoft Edge is now installed and ready to use.
